1. Civil War Hospital Town & Shared Graves
During the Civil War, Thomasville became a hospital center for wounded soldiers. Local churches and warehouses were converted to care for them.
A striking fact: the city cemetery is believed to be the only cemetery in the state where Confederate and Federal soldiers are buried in a common grave.

2. One of the Oldest Remaining Railroad Depots in NC
The Thomasville Railroad Passenger Depot (built in 1870–1871) is one of the oldest surviving frame depots in North Carolina.
It now houses the Thomasville Visitors’ Center after restoration.

3. Fair Grove Methodist Church Cemetery: Folk Gravestones & Early Dates
The Fair Grove Methodist Church Cemetery in Thomasville is historic: it has about 400 gravestones, and the earliest gravestone dates to 1829.
It also features a distinctive collection of folk gravestones made by local stonecutters in the late 1700s / early 1800s.
